Why Facebook Ads?
While many people remember when Facebook was just a free networking site for college students to connect, Facebook has since turned into a powerful social networking platform. Facebook as evolved to include games, news, and business pages. With these new features also come Facebook Ads. These ads reach out to specific users based on the target audience created by a business. Facebook Ads allow you to reach over 2 billion users and potential customers.
To use Facebook Ads properly it’s important to establish a target audience. There is a process to finding and creating the proper target audience for your business.
Target Audience Research
First, do your research! This is the most important step. Doing market research is required to understand the industry’s demographic. It doesn’t make sense to market women’s heels to men, and it doesn’t make sense to market diapers to women who haven’t have children. Not knowing who to target with your Facebook Ads will mean wasting money and not getting any new customers.
Another great thing to research is who your competitors’ target audience is. Once you know who your competitors are targeting, think about who your customers are. If you’re a craft beer company, you wan want to target Budweiser’s audience as well as 21 year old urban men. Targeting Budweiser’s audience will help you tap into people that drink beer, while targeting 21 year old urban men will help you tap into people that are more likely to drink craft beer over big corporations’.
Facebook Demographics
Facebook demographics is a very powerful tool for getting the right target audience. Start to target all the of general demographics that are relevant to your company. General demographics include age and gender. Then, you can start to target more specific demographics like interests, buying habits, location, household income, and more.
While it might seem a little creepy at first to know all of this information about people on Facebook, remember that people freely give this information to Facebook every time they update their location, employment, relationship status, or click on a Facebook Ad.
