Tuesday Tip: Undercover Marketing
Hey guys! It’s Rachel back with with another Tuesday Tip! This week understand the benefits of undercover marketing!
You can watch our video here!
Low Cost
Undercover marketing involved introducing a product to consumers in a way so the consumer does not feel like it is advertising. This is when agents pose as regular people and show off products to the public who are unaware of any marketing.
Companies hope to generate buzz for a product in a way that is NOT overly obvious. The benefits to this type of marketing include its low costs. There does not require a lot of money for these campaigns because we want to be as discrete as possible. In doing so, your business can get other people/companies to simply create positive reviews of products in the form of blogs, video-sharing, and in the comment sections on websites like Yelp.
Word-of-Mouth Recommendations
Undercover marketing works best when the companies that use it understand their products and their consumers. A company should know what it wants its undercover marketing agents to say and where they can go to reach their target audience. When word-of-mouth spreads about a product/service the more likely that company will gain customers. It is so easy to get a person to go into a store and start talking up the products they are selling. When individuals see that others are engaging in certain products, they will jump on the bandwagon.
These campaigns should be very short-term rather than long-term projects. Long term campaigns are more likely to get noticed by the public. When the campaign ends, your business should pay attention to changes in sales, consumer traffic, and web traffic to see what was most effective.
