Purpose

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation which came about in the United States this May 2018. GDPR is a regulation from the European Parliament that provides and enforces better data protection for any EU citizen. The GDPR also applies to organizations outside the EU and to all companies processing and holding the personal data of data subjects residing in the EU, regardless of the companies location.

It’s main purpose is to give regular citizens control over where and how their personal data is used, stored, and ultimately deleted. There are penalties for non-compliance of required data. With the digital marketing world constantly making advancements, it is important that we maintain Digital Rights. Every corporation should understand the rights they have. Companies can be fined up to 4% of their annual income if they violate the terms and conditions of this regulation.

Terms & Conditions

It is important that we protect ourselves and our personal data. All of our personal information can be found on our social media platforms, applications, and webpages. This makes it extremely easy for hackers to access your data. Even our simple transactions at the gas station or the information we send via email can be hacked into. We really never know the extremes people will go with our information.

Consent is a huge part of this regulation as the T&C’s (terms and conditions), that we flip through so quickly, are designed to be more simple and easy to understand. These terms and conditions must be readily accessible. There should be a clear understanding of what you are agreeing to. The GDPR is active to help protect our rights as the Internet is growing constantly. As citizens, it is our right to have privacy to our personal data!
