Don’t underestimate the power and effectiveness of social search! Sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms have search features that operate just like search engines. When people search for a specific keyword or hashtag like #BleazyUSA, the site will search through all of its content to display the most relevant information. This includes your posts and public profile. You can also include keywords in things like your username and bio to help people find your content.

Thanks to updates to social media like sponsored content, the Facebook Marketplace, and Facebook  and Instagram business pages, social media is acting more as a search engine now than ever! Keywords on social media work both within the site as well as on traditional search engines like Google. If someone searches “salon in El Paso, Texas” into Google, they’ll be able to find your website as well as all of your social media sites if you use those keywords.

Using Keywords On Social Media

Including keywords and phrases in your social media posts and profile will make your company more searchable. Start getting in the habit of using common hashtags and relevant keywords within your social media posts. This will allow your business to have a better chance at being found by people searching for topics related to your industry!

You can discover common hashtags by looking at the hashtags of your competitors. Be careful not to use hashtags or keywords that aren’t relevant, though! Sites like YouTube actually punish content creators who use irrelevant tags to trick users into clicking their video. Other sites can permanently ban you if you’re reported as spamming users with irrelevant hashtags.
