Tuesday Tip: Programmatic Advertising

It’s time for another Tuesday Tip! This week learn how programmatic advertising will save your company valuable time!

You can watch our video here!

What is it?

Programmatic advertising refers to the use of software to purchase digital advertising. Rather than human negotiations and manual insertion orders. It’s using machines to buy ads, basically. Before programmatic ad buying, digital ads were bought and sold by human ad buyers and salespeople, which can be expensive and unreliable.

Benefits

Programmatic advertising technology makes the ad buying system more efficient, and therefor cheaper. This allows both marketers and sellers to spend more time planning sophisticated customized campaigns. People get sick, lack sleep, and cannot perform to the best of their ability 24/7, however a machine can! Technology is being used to replace some of the more menial tasks that humans have historically had to handle, like sending insertion orders to publishers and dealing with ad tags, but they’re still required to optimize campaigns and to plan strategies.

This kind of advertising will probably mean there are fewer ad buyers in the world. An increase of media companies and agencies are exploring ways to sell ‘traditional’ media this way, including TV spots and out-of-home ads.

Check back next week for another Tuesday Tip! 😉
